ZipOut Options

Outlook 2007

Open the Options dialog by clicking the button in the lower right corner of the ZipOut group.

Outlook 2000, 2002 or 2003

Use the button to the right of the Separate/Combine toggle to launch the ZipOut Options dialog.

ZipOut allows you to set certain options such as password, comment, or self-extracting file on a message-by-message basis. The options are reset to their default (off) once the message is sent or saved. These options are set by clicking the ZipOut Options command bar button shown above. The ZipOut Options command bar button appears on the Standard toolbar for an Outlook item or on the ZipOut Toolbar if you are using Word as the default e-mail editor in Outlook 2000. The ZipOut Options dialog box is shown below.

Tip (Outlook 2000, 2002 and 2003 only): Once you set ZipOut options, they are set for the active Outlook item and that item only. When the item is sent, saved, or closed, all the options are cleared. If you open another item and attempt to set options on that item while the original item is still active, you will see an alert message informing you that you can only set options on the original item.

Note  You can only create a self-extracting file for an Outlook message, meeting request, or task request item. If you display the Options dialog box for other item types, the Create Self-Extracting File box is disabled.

ZipOut Options Controls

Create Self-Extracting File  Creates a self-extracting file for this message only. If you always want to create a self-extracting file, check the Always create Self-Extracting File box on the Micro Eye ZipOut property page. See Self-Extracting File Options for additional information on self-extracting files.

Use Password  Check this box to enter a password for the .zip or self-extracting file. The .zip or self-extracting file will be encrypted according to the Zip 2.0 encryption standard. You should be aware that the Zip 2.0 encryption standard is not as secure as the DES and RSA public key formats used by programs like PGP. The Zip 2.0 encryption format is not currently subject to U.S. Government restrictions on encryption technology, and can be broken by individuals with advanced cryptographic tools.

Warning  The recipient of your message will need to enter this password in order to view or extract the items in the .zip or self-extracting file. Make sure that you remember the password!

Add Comments  Use this option to enter comments for the .zip or self-extracting file. The comments can be viewed when the .zip file is opened using Windows XP or a Zip utility such as WinZip. The ZipOut Viewer does not display comments.

Combine Attachments Filename  Enter the filename for combined attachments on the message. Do not add an extension. For example, if you enter My Attachments in the Combine Attachments Filename edit box, the recipient of your message will receive a message with all attachments combined into a file named My Attachments.zip. The Combine Attachments Filename is not used if you have chosen to Separate attachments.
