ZipOut 2003 Released
ZipOut 2003 provides rapid search for all mailbox attachments, including files stored in a zip file.
September 9, 2003 -- Esparto CA -- Micro Eye, Inc. today announced the release of ZipOut 2003, a major upgrade to the popular attachment compression add-in for Microsoft Outlook.
E-mail remains the most popular way to share ideas in the modern workplace, with e-mail attachments using most of the bandwidth and storage in this process. ZipOut compresses attachments to outbound messages so that they travel faster, with fewer transmission errors. ZipOut also compresses attachments on new messages in the Inbox, or in any Outlook folder including the archive PST files that are gobbling up disk space in organizations all over the world.
The problem with using e-mail attachments to collaborate is that it is hard to find the one you need when you want to work on it. Outlook can do complex searches for messages but has no way to look for an attachment. ZipOut solves this problem by indexing all message attachments, including embedded messages and files that are contained within zip files. The index can cover just a few folders or span multiple mailboxes and PST files, and it stays current through an automatic update process. ZipOut makes it easy to create a simple or complex search that returns results almost instantaneously. The index is maintained within the primary mailbox, so it travels offline when a user synchronizes an Outlook profile to a laptop and the index is automatically available to a roaming user at every desktop that he or she uses.
