ZipOut 2002 Releases to Web
ZipOut 2002 provides rapid search for all mailbox attachments, including files stored in a zip file.
February 1, 2002 -- Esparto CA -- Micro Eye, Inc. today announced the release of ZipOut 2002, a major upgrade of the popular ZipOut attachment compression add-in for Microsoft Outlook.
About ZipOut 2002 ZipOut 2002 can quickly locate attachments anywhere in a mailbox or personal folders (PST) file. This critical new feature continues the evolution of ZipOut from a simple compression utility to an attachment management suite. The core of the product remains attachment compression, seamlessly integrated with Outlook.
In terms of size, attachments are the principal component of message traffic and constitute a significant factor in network congestion and mailbox bloat. ZipOut will compress many common attachments by as much as 80-90%. ZipOut provides dramatic reductions in storage demands and bandwidth loads.
Attachments are also a primary vector for the transmission of viruses and other malicious software. ZipOut can be set to restrict or block the transfer of specific attachment types. These management functions can integrate with or as act as an alternative to the attachment security features of the Microsoft Outlook E-mail Security Update.
In many organizations, e-mail attachments are the primary mechanism for sharing documents. Productive use of these documents requires fast and efficient retrieval, but attachment searches are not part of Outlook's native find capabilities. ZipOut can locate an attachment almost instantly using simple or complex queries against an existing index, using a variety of parameters such as attachment name, type, size range, sender, recipient, date received, and date modified. ZipOut indexes compressed documents within Zip files as well as embedded messages, so almost any type of Outlook attachment is available for quick retrieval. Once you find the attachment you're looking for, you can open or print the attachment directly from the search window. You can also open the Outlook item that contains the attachment, save the attachment to disk or publish it to Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server.
